Late introductions
Just to explain...
Matt the art - draws stuff. The Obata of the duo, cept not as talented really.
Matt the story - writes words. The Ohba to Matt the art's Obata.
Lines can be blurred, but that's the basics!!
Future projects, and the now.
Here at Matt ~Squared~ we have a number of projects on the boil. So here's a bit of a run down....
- Last train to Asstown our main project. we are hoping to release the first issue in a couple of months, and then make it a fortnightly feature there after.
- BD Matt the art's adaptation for a script to a short film. This will be released as a one shot.
- Matt and Moo the story of one guy and his, er, cow! Matt the Story is going solo on this one. Expect a bunch of crazy 3 panel flashes of inspiration!
- Strung based on a Chinese proverb, this story is in the early stages. A love story, following a boy and his quest to follow his mystical bond to his true love. It'll end up as a one shot.
- おどろきのかいぎ (odoroki no kaigi) Suprise meeting - slightly autobiographical. Story of meeting the past head on and realisation that life has a reason.
- EoW apocalyptic epic and with attitude. A teenaged girl is thrown in to a web of alternate world events.
Watch this space!

Writing
After an epic weekly meeting, the Asstown story is really shaping up. Matt has some pretty frikkin awesome plans! I can't wait to draw them!
One shot idea - おどろきのかいぎ
I've no idea why it needs to be named in Japanese - other than I'm learning basic Japanese at the moment ^_^ かわいい!

Resources for the budding self publisher
So, with out further guff:
Printers
Recommended by Willie Hewes after the closure of submissions for her ITCH comic publishing service, I've never used them, but Print-X are looking like a really reasonable and good quality low volume printer.
A personal recommendation from fellow cartooneer, Steve Coffin (Lutu: warrior of the North), Ka-Blam are an alternative to a UK printer. I've never heard a bad review, so looking forward to giving them a go some time.
Distro
IndyPlanet seems to be a pretty good place to get your comics to the public. They work with Ka-Blam to provide an end to end solution for printing and sales.
Supplies
Dinkybox are brilliant! I have personally used them, good fast and courteous! It's pretty impossible to find Deleter supplies in the UK and so, THIS IS A TOTAL FIND!
Other bits and pieces
The Sweatdrop forums are a good read for various comic type info and discussions.
As Manga Studio is our digital weapon of choice, Pencilkiller.com has a super tutorial section, that I've found myself referring to a number of times.
Some awesome looking drawing reference material.
So, that's all for now. I'll expand/update this list in the future, but I wanted to get some of that "out there".

Sketch of the day
This idea was totally stolen from my good friend Steve Coffin! Take a gander at his wares!
I give you - Kirkwell - captain Kirk's idiot younger sibling.
Oh, and some other guy over his shoulder.
No one said it had to make any sense!
Asstown chapter one
The primary chapter of the Last train to Asstown is currently baking!! Nearly ready!! Wait padawan, be patient.
Matt ~squared~ work blog!!
So - you will see previews. You will see links. You will see the "Daily sketch". We'll talk about what is going on, our tools, post video and pictures and all kinds of lovely stuff like that!!
